BUDGET MEETING
SUPERVISOR BOARD

In attendance for the supervisor board, John Jones, Jim Kloster, Heath Gillham, Alfred Shenton, Russell Nelson, Maintenance Brian Opatz, Treasurer Lenore Johnson, Clerk Sandy Forsman.
Jim opened the discussion with a review of the 2007 budget.
The board reviewed the funds of Revenue and Road and Bridge and the
expenditures of 2007 of what was spent and what was proposed, the ending
balances of 2007
compared to 2006.
John talked of the concerns of the cost of recycling to the
township about 1/3 of the present revenue budget. The lack of participation of
the residents for this man dated program. John stated that some alternative may
have to be in place like an on site recycling at the township hall with
residents coming here with there recyclables and putting them in dumpsters . John to discuss this with the present recycler .
John also introduced a plan to have Wright County Sheriff do
patrolling in the township on a schedule, 4 hours Friday and four hours
Saturday maybe in conjunction with another township, this would cost about
$22,000.00 a year. This to be introduced for consideration at
the annual meeting. Also talk of a possible expansion of the hall and a
cold storage shed in the future.
Board asked Lenore if to her knowledge there may be cuts to our
present revenue from the state or county. Lenore stated she has not been
notified of such.
Board reviewed the revenue from the state and county for
2007.
Brian presented to the board a list of possible expenses for
2009, road work, equipment purchases. Fuel costs, and
other services.
Discussion of a 5% levy increase which s would mean a $15,000.00
increase to revenue for a proposal of $145,000.00 in 2009 , and a increase to
Road and Bridge of $15,000.00 to $490,000.00 for 2009.to offset future increase
in costs. This to be presented at the annual meeting.This
would not increase residents taxes. This is an
internal accounting matter.
Motion to close the discussion by Heath and seconded by
Alfred all in favor motion carried.
