Regular meeting of the Silver Creek Township Board

August 19th, 2008

The meeting was called to order by chairman John Jones. In attendance were John Jones, Heath Gillham, Jim Kloster, Russell Nelson, Steve Langanki, Clerk Sandy Forsman, Treasurer Lenore Johnson, Maintenance supervisor Brian Opatz.

 

 

Pledge was recited.

 

Open form for citizen comments-Lenore Johnson asked the board if a addition application of dust guard could be applied to 127th, since the construction and a application of chloride was applied this spring the road seems to have absorbed the chloride and for all appearances the road is very ruff and no dust guard is in evidence.

 

Review and approve of agenda- Motion by Jim to approve the agenda and seconded by Russell all in favor motion carried.

 

Consent Agenda- Minutes of July 15th, 2008. A motion was made by Russell to accept the minutes as written and seconded by Jim all in favor motion carried.

 

Clerks Report-Jim made a motion to accept the clerks report as written and Heath seconded all in favor motion carried.

Jim made a motion for Heath to investigate the costs of a Television with a DVD player for future use at the township. Heath seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

Disbursements- Motion made by Jim to accept the disbursements and seconded by Russell all in favor motion carried.

 

Audit of Claims- Ck # 6051 for $212.65, Ck # 6056 for $283.89, Ck # 7010 for $38.02. Motion by Jim to accept the audit of claims and seconded by Heath all in favor motion carried.

 

Treasurers report-Deposited $1,881.10 Recycling and a ACH Payment.

To Deposit-$ 166.63 R&B

Revenue $150,354.09, R&B $102,884.57, Available money $253,238.66

Funds- Fire $10,808.59, Building $2,365.27, Capital Imp. $668.45, Contingency $15,478.62, Checking $750.82, Checks out $3,181.02.

Motion to accept the treasurers report by Jim and seconded by Steve all in favor motion carried.

 

New business- Motion to accept the pine Lakes development road known as the Preserve. Jim made a motion to accept the roads with the condition that a deposit of $2,000.00 check be presented to the township for road signs, Steve seconded all in favor motion carried.

Letter from Mark Bartlett- After reviewing  and discussion of a letter received concerning a mistaken letter sent and a request for reimbursement for time and mileage the board finds by a motion by Jim that such a request can not be honored seconded by Steve , all in favor motion carried. A letter of apology to be sent to Mr. Bartlett.  

 

Message board- A message board was suggested for better communication with the maintenance shop to be ordered. Clerk to order.

 

Flying J- John gave a report to the board on the progress of the proposed Flying J truck stop. John is in constant communication with the county and highway department . At this point the land owners need to submit a plat for the land in question. If and when enough true information is available the township may call a public informational meeting.

 

Maintenance report- The dump truck had to have some major repairs and was repaired at M&M Bus company , the main electric supply had rusted and shorted out everything.

Also the loader had to be sent to Ziegler for repair.

Trees were trimmed and the ditch on Amery Ave was cleaned.

Two turnarounds were built one on 95th off of county road 11 and one on 92nd St.

The signs were installed at the Hasty truck stop as requested.

Brian presented to the board a completed list of all our black topped roads in the township.

The tile job is completed on 127th and hopefully the problem will be taken care of.

Brian asked the board its wishes concerning the condition of 127th for extra chloride. Jim made a motion to have a second coat of chloride applied to 127th because of the construction done to the road and the effect of the first coat that failed to do its intended purpose. Heath seconded all in favor motion carried.

Motion to accept the maintenance report by Steve and seconded by heath all in favor motion carried.

 

Motion to adjourn by Heath and seconded by Steve all in favor motion carried.
