Regular Meeting of Silver Creek Township Supervisors

February 17th, 2009

7 P.M.

John called the meeting to order, in attendance for the supervisor board, John Jones, Heath Gillham, Jim Kloster, Russell Nelson, Steve Langanki, Clerk Sandy Forsman Treasurer Lenore Johnson, Maintenance Brian Opatz.

 

Pledge was recited.

 

Open form for citizens comments- None

 

Review of Agenda, Russell made a motion to accept the agenda as presented with any additions as needed, Jim seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

John called for a closing of accepting of quotes for load and haul and crushing, Heath seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

A quote from B. McNamara for crushing 15,000 cubic yards at a quote price of   $2.40 a Yard was accepted with a motion by Jim and seconded by Steve all in favor motion carried. 

 

After the board reviewed the number of presented quotes for hauling the board felt that these quotes were not a sufficient number to award . Jim made a motion to table the acceptance of Load and Haul quotes till Brian has posted for bids in the construction paper and Maple Lake messenger for further interest . At the March meeting this will again be reviewed.

 

 

Minutes of the January meeting, Jim made a motion to accept the minutes as written and Russell seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

Clerks report, clerk stated that a news letter will be in the mail concerning the election , the Clean Up Day, and a notice to residents that would like chloride applied . Motion by Jim to accept the clerks report and seconded by Steve all in favor motion carried.

 

Disbursements, Jim made a motion to accept the disbursements and Heath seconded all in favor motion carried.

Audit of claims, Ck # 6737 First Minn  $ 1,528.81, Ck # 6743 Wright County Auditor $ 1,94133, Ck # 6753 Government Training $110.00. Motion by Russell to accept the audit of claims and seconded by Jim all in favor motion carried.

 

Treasurers report, Final settlement was received from the county for $10,406.97, fourth quarter recycling for $1,375.40. To be deposited $3306.80.

Revenue fund $143,057.60, Road and Bridge $199,042.53, Available funds $344,100.13.

Fire fund $9,804.89, Building $1,051.61, Capital Imp. $44,112.94, Contingency $25,501.20, Checks out $33,920.07, Checking $322.30. Motion by Jim to accept the Treasurers report and seconded by Russell all in favor motion carried.

 

New Business- Rose Thelen appeared before the board to up date on various topics that concern the townships she serves. She stated she will try to attend township meetings and keep in touch with the clerks and supervisors for as much as time allows. She also stated that she will post her office hours on her web site. Board thanked her for attending.

 

Discussion on Urban Powers- Tabled till the March Meeting.

 

Stickney Library donation, Board voted to donate to the Stickney Library $2,300.00, this was a motion by Jim and seconded by Heath all in favor motion carried.

 

Use of neighboring building for misc. storage. Steve questioned about insurance coverage for such storage on another piece of property or building. Heath and Brian have contacted the building owner for possible storage of Misc equipment will wait to hear from the insurance company before acting.

 

Liquor License renew for Olson Camp Ground, Heath made a motion to renew the liquor License for Olson Camp Ground and Steve seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

Wright County Letter from Sheriff Dept concern a tour of the new Jail, board members stated they would like to tour the new facility on March 26th at 7 P.M. Clerk to notify county.

 

Old Business

Heath and Steve spoke to the board of there progress in pursuing a workable employee Manual to accommodate our township and to define each employees position.

 

Maintenance report-The dump truck sander motor blew out and had to be repaired, Much sanding has been done to relieve the ice build up from the weather.

Did a thousand hour service on the grader, moved many snow drifts so the shoulders will dry faster when the melt comes. Would like to know if the board wants me to start advertising for specs. For crack filling and seal coating also quotes for chloride for the roads this spring. Motion by Steve for Brian to get these quotes as needed , seconded by Heath all in favor motion carried.

Will be attending classes for pavement and gravel Maintence in March.
