Regular Planning and Zoning Meeting

December 9th, 2008

In attendance for the Planning Board, Johannn Massmann, Bill Langenbacher, Kathy Lesicka, Mary Hill, Amy Forsythe. For the Supervisor Board, John Jones, Heath Gillham, Jim Kloster, Russell Nelson, Steve Langanki, Clerk Sandy Forsman.

 

Johann called the meeting to order, review of the October minutes, Bill made a motion to accept the minutes as written, Kathy seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

Johann read to the board a letter from Wright County Planning and Zoning concerning a proposed amendment addition to the new Wright County sign ordinance. After discussion a motion by Bill to oppose this addition that would allow signage on rail road property , with the statement that the ordinance is to new and untested or examined for its effectiveness. Kathy seconded all in favor motion carried.

Supervisor board, Jim made a motion to accept the Planning boards recommendation and Russell seconded all in favor motion carried. All in favor motion carried.

 

Barry Hart asked to address the board. Mr. Hart is in the process of purchasing the old Hasty Inn with the purpose of having a winery in a few years up and running, at this time he has purchased 30 acres down the road and has planted grape vines to provide the winery with product. Mr. Hart has spoken with Tom Salkowski on the proposed business and would like input from the board if they are in favor of this project and there thoughts. Until his vines are producing and he has finished product that could take up to four years he would like to have a gift shop and a possible events area like wedding receptions outside. A liquor license would also be applied for. Jim stated that in having a conditional use permit for the winery is one use but to have multi uses there may be a problem.Mr. Hart stated he would attend the January meeting with more information and possible site plans. 

 

Barry from Wright County Planning and Zoning presented a proposed N.W. Quadrant Plan for Silver Creek, with a slide presentation he pointed to areas that could have possible changes in zoning. Silver Creek at this time has 708 sites available for residential development. Through out the presentation both boards asked questions on various areas of the township.

 

Motion by Bill to Adjourn and seconded by Mary all in favor motion carried.
