PLANNING AND ZONING

In attendance for the planning board, Steve Duncan, Ralph Uecker, Steve Langanki, Bill Langenbacher, Johann Massmann.

In attendance for the supervisor board, John Jones, Heath Gillham , Alfred Shenton, Jim Kloster, Russell Nelson. Clerk Sandy Forsman.

 

Steve Duncan called the meeting to order.

 

Review of the minutes of December 11, 2007. Steve L. Made a motion to accept the minutes as written and Bill seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

 

Steve called Dean Schmitz, Mr. Schmitz is requesting a variance when building his new home on the site of his previously destroyed home by fire to build a additional bedroom 24x36x24. Johann stated that he has no problem with Mr. Schmitz rebuilding , but that he should keep to the original foot print of the destroyed home. Mr. Schmitz stated that the septic system has been certified. John stated that by state law as long as he stays within the square footage of the previous home there should be no problem in rebuilding.

Johann made a motion to approve the new home based on the same square footage of the destroyed home and the updated septic system, Bill seconded all in favor motion carried.

Supervisor board, Alfred made a motion to accept the recommendation of the planning board and Russell seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

 

Knife River ( Naaktgeboren Pit)

Holly and Brian appeared for Knife river Co. Residents living by the pit also appeared before the board with concerns, a letter was presented to the board with these statements.

 

A resident spoke of the storage that is being done on the site of pallets of shingles, concrete, also the storage of equipment year around. The pollution smell,& hours of operation, noise level.

 

The board questioned the representatives on these issues, the board also stated that in the original conditional use permit the operation of a hot mix plant was the only stated operation those other concerns presented by the residents are not in the conditional use permit.

 

The board asked Knife River to come back in February with a new request letter for the conditional use outlining the storage of equipment and materials.

 

Johann made this a motion and Ralph seconded all in favor motion carried.

 

Supervisor Board- Alfred made a motion to accept the recommendation of the planning board and to attach the letter of concerns from the residents to the minutes, Russell seconded all in favor motion carried. 

 

Motion to adjourn by Johann and seconded by Steve L. All in favor motion carried.
