Maurice Carlin was called on his request for a rezoning of his property of 8.08 acres from AG and  S-2 Residential-Recreational shore lands to R-1 and S-2 with a CUP permit to create one new residential lot and a waver of platting requirements as Wright county subdivision regulations require of such a request. Mr. Carlin presented to the board a map of his property and the property formally a county sand pit. His request is to improve the 8.08 acres formally a sand pit to a residential lot suitable for a building site. This to include enough space for a home and septic system and still be with in 200 feet from the lake. There is state park to the east of the property, Mr. Carlin feels that this proposal would enhance the land and be a improvement to its present condition.

Dorene Scriven asked to speak before the board on her concerns to this request of Mr. Carlins. The concern was on this request and how it would effect the lake appearance and the state park . She felt that if this request was honored it would effect the appearance of the lake and the intent of the DNR to keep that area from being developed and as natural as possible, Katie Freehan also spoke on her concerns in preserving the scenic land and wild life.

Mary Hill spoke and stated she felt that land should be preserved but she also sees the benefit to having this sand pit become more functional for the area. Bill made a motion to allow the request to rezone the 8.08 acres to R-1 and S-2  with a conditional use permit to allow one new residential lot as long as all procedures required by Wright county are followed. Amy seconded all in favor motion carried.
